Reminder; 9/11 Hero Climb this Wednesday at SJHS

9/11 Hero Climb

On September 11, 2001 at 8:46 a.m. the world was stunned as the North Tower of the World Trade Center was hit in a terror attack. This year, with the support of local first responders, BOSS Services, the Boss Services Foundation and Honor Credit Union will be hosting the fourth annual 9/11 Hero Climb to commemorate the anniversary of 9/11. This event will bring the community together to honor fallen heroes, raise money for local fire departments and remember the sacrifice many gave on that day.

Alongside Berrien County Police, Local Firefighters, and EMTs, volunteer participants will climb 2,071 steps to symbolize the climb to the top of the Twin Towers on the bleachers at St. Joseph High School.

The event will begin Wednesday, September 11th at 8:46 am, the same time the first plane hit the first tower. There will also be a one-mile, all inclusive, track event for those who want to be in support but may not be physically able to make the stair climb. New this year will be the addition of a chip-timed 5k on the St. Joseph High School Track to add another way for the community to support this great cause. 100% of the proceeds will go towards the purchase of life-saving gear and vital equipment for Berrien County First Responders.

“Commemorating 9/11 is a tribute to the enduring strength and spirit of our nation. It stands as a profound reminder that, even in our most challenging times, we can rebuild and uplift each other,” explains Jeff Street, a former Marine and co-owner of Boss Services. “This event is our way of ensuring that the legacy of the brave individuals who risked or sacrificed their lives on 9/11, endures. It also celebrates those who continually step up to safeguard our communities and our country.”

Everyone is welcome to join the Boss Services team and area first responders on Wednesday morning September 11, 2024 at St. Joseph High School to participate. Doors open and ‘day of’ registration begins at 7:30 am. Everyone is welcome to come watch if you are not participating in one of the events.
