
Registration is now open for the Lake Michigan College Fab Lab Summer Camp series. Ten sessions are being offered in the Hanson Technology Fab Lab on the LMC Benton Harbor Campus, 2755 E. Napier Ave. The complete camp list can be found at www.lakemichigancollege.edu/camps.
The Fab Lab is where creativity meets technology. Fab Lab summer camps provide fun, hands-on projects that spark creativity and allow participants to develop collaboration, teamwork, critical thinking, and communication skills. Participants can explore a variety of tools in a supervised setting, including 3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters, CNC routers, Adobe Creative Suite, embroidery and sewing machines, and more. Each camp is conducted under the guidance of college faculty and staff. Opportunities are available for campers as young as 6 through high school and beyond.

Get creative “making things” with 3D printers, computer-aided design, sewing machines, laser cutters, woodworking tools, and more. Experiment with ideas in an environment of trying, re-thinking the process, and trying again to improve the design.
Ukulele Building
June 16-18, 9 a.m.-noon; Ages 8+, $135

Each camper starts the three-day camp with a kit containing all the components to build a ukulele. Guidance will be provided about how to assemble each piece and personalize the instrument with custom decorations. The journey culminates in learning the first chords and strums, bringing the handcrafted instrument to life with music.

Tune into the exciting world of electronics by assembling and customizing an FM radio (87-108MHz). By the end of the camp, each participant will take home a fully functional FM radio as well as new-found soldering skills, a foundational understanding of electronics, and the joy of building something from scratch.
