Tragedy was avoided this morning thanks to a rapid response from South Haven Area Emergency Services in the central business district of downtown South Haven.
Firefighters were called out on a firm alarm just minutes before 9am today when smoke was discovered at Urban Studio Salon & Spa, located at 410 Phoenix Street in the central business district.
The Saturday morning alarm was fortuitous, inasmuch as a piece of equipment was found burning on a shelf on the second floor of the salon, and the fire was successfully contained to that areea.
An employee arriving to being her work day smelled smoke as soon as she entered the building and alerted the fire department. The firefighters also removed the smoke from the building, allowing the business to resume normal operations a short while later
