Prospective Collegians Can Go Face to Face at LMC With Dozens

While it can be fun to post your “college tour” photos on Facebook as you and your family hit the road in search of the ideal college for a graduating senior, it can get prohibitively costly if you haven’t already narrowed things down to some degree. Fortunately, Lake Michigan College’s upcoming College Night can be not only a true eye-opener, it can save your family both valuable time and money at the same time.

College night can be an even more valuable opportunity for time-pressed adult learners looking to head back to campus to advance a new career or take additional technical training to enhance their skills base.

Lake Michigan College will host its annual College Night event from 6-7:30 pm on Monday, September 23rd, 2019, in the Grand Upton Hall at The Mendel Center on the Napier Avenue campus in Benton Harbor.

High school students and their parents are invited to attend the free event to meet with representatives from LMC and more than 50 other colleges and universities throughout the Midwest. Additionally, adult students returning to college or attending college for the first time as well as transferring students also are encouraged to attend.

Jeremy Schaeffer is Director of Admissions & Recruitment at LMC. He says, “Researching and visiting prospective colleges and universities can be a time-consuming process,” and adds, “We want to make it easier for students by bringing colleges to them. Whether they are a current LMC student looking to transfer their credits to a four-year university or a high school student starting to explore their options, this event is designed to answer questions so they can make an informed choice on the college that is right for them.”

Some of the schools slated to attend include:

  • Andrews University
  • Central Michigan University
  • The College for Creative Studies
  • Eastern Michigan University
  • Ferris State University
  • Grand Valley State University
  • Michigan State University
  • Northern Michigan University
  • St. Mary’s College
  • University of Michigan
  • Valparaiso University
  • Western Michigan University
  • Many more

Lake Michigan College staff also will offer financial aid sessions during the event. Those in attendance can learn about financial aid options and tips on how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for the 2020-2021 academic year.
