The Lincoln Township Board of Trustees has heard some encouraging news regarding possible improvements at Township Beach. Speaking to trustees Tuesday, Brandon Mieras with engineering firm Williams & Works said a map of the critical dunes and other land around the beach was made available to him earlier in the day, and it shows more potential than previously thought. Trustee Marc Florian told us he’s excited about the results.
“I’m hoping to see a smaller version of Tiscornia Beach,” Floiran said. “I’d like to see a nice circular parking area where we could get maybe 50 cars in there if we had to. I’d like to be able to see the people who can drop off non-ambulatory folks up here nearest the beach and they could get down a ramp and get down to the sand or site there and watch the sunsets.”
Florian says the map shows much more developable area than predicted. There are limitations to what can be done due to all the wetlands and critical dune areas at the beach. The beach has seen erosion in recent years, although the township has been looking at more development there. A plan could start to come together this year.
