Police Ask Public for Help in Late Night Gunfire Incident in South Haven

Baffled by unexplained pre-midnight gunshots in the city, South Haven Police and multiple other law enforcement units are trying to piece together exactly what went down late last night at the intersection of Fruit Street and Indiana Avenue in South Haven

Officers from South Haven, the Michigan State Police, the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office and the Pokagon Tribal Police all responded to that intersection around 11:30pm last night, Monday, June 8th following reports of gunshots.

Police say they found several spent bullet casings on the ground near that intersection and two vehicles that were damaged by gunfire. However, authorities say there was no evidence on the scene that would lead them to believe that anybody had been injured in the incident and after canvassing hospitals across the region, found no reports of anyone checking in with gunshot wounds.

The incident remains under investigation, and South Haven Police are asking anyone with knowledge of what transpired at that site just north of Elkenburg Park in the city.
