Peace Lutheran Hosts War Dogs

If dogs are truly a man's best friend in everyday life, imagine the value they bring to a military venue in the middle of a war zone. The United States military has been utilizing dogs in war zones dating all the way back to the Civil War era. Over the course of many years, the forgotten heroes have saved the lives of countless soldiers. To share their story, Peace Lutheran Church of St. Joseph will play host to a War Dogs Presentation as a part of this summer's Lest We Forget events in Michigan's Great Southwest.

The church, located at 3590 Lincoln Avenue, will host the presentation featuring the stories of John Meeks and Johnny Mayo, a couple of Vietnam War Veterans who are determined not to forget the debt they own to their K-9 partners.

Meeks and Mayo will share their personal experiences, recap the history of military dogs in war zones and describe how dogs are being used in the military today.

The free presentation on Thursday, June 23rd at 7pm is in conjunction with the 2016 Lest We Forget line up of events. If you would like additional information, you can reach Peace Lutheran Church at 556-7000 or track them on Facebook at Peace Lutheran Church NALC.
