Paw Paw Avenue Road Work Begins Thursday in Coloma Township

Crews from the Berrien County Road Department are forewarning travelers of potential delays for those who use Paw Paw Avenue in Coloma Township beginning tomorrow and running for about a week.

Crews will be working on Paw Paw Avenue, from Paw Paw Lake Road to the Coloma Township line near the intersection with Douglas Terrace, starting tomorrow, Thursday, May 20th with the project expected to be complete by Friday, May 28th, weather and contractor depending.

Berrien Road Department officials say that the designated stretch of Paw Paw Avenue will be receiving a 2-inch HMA Overlay.

As a result, you can expect Paw Paw Avenue to have intermittent lane closures between Paw Paw Lake Road and the Township line. Cold milling to prepare the surface is expected to begin tomorrow morning. Paving is anticipated to occur next week, the week of May 24th. Work to gravel the shoulders will then be scheduled. Authorities caution you to expect possible travel delays, and to anticipate lane closures with traffic controlled by flaggers working on-site.

They ask that you remember to reduce speeds when traveling through work zones, and to watch out for construction workers and equipment.
