Paw Paw State Police are reminding everyone that online terror threats against anyone will be taken seriously and will be investigated. Interestingly, the reminder comes in the wake of a massive series of threats made against the Michigan State Police themselves by a Southwest Michigan man who has been arrested.
Troopers from the Paw Paw Post say that a 29-year old Kalamazoo man was arrested yesterday, Wednesday, September 25th, for making hundreds of online, terroristic threats against the Michigan State Police.
Police say that nearly 300 text, audio and violent video messages were sent to the department’s Facebook page using the online Messenger app. Detectives and troopers located the suspect at his home and a search of his residence resulted in the seizure of firearms, along with air pistols and long guns that were modified to look like firearms.
The Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s Office has charged the man with one count of making terroristic threats and one count of using a computer to commit a crime. He is being held in the Kalamazoo County Jail pending arraignment, which is expected later today. He has not been identified, pending that arraignment.
In the meantime, Paw Paw State Police say that if you have knowledge of anyone making threats or planning harm, you should report it to law enforcement immediately.
