Two commercial vehicle drivers collided on Eastbound I-94 shortly after the morning rush hour this morning killing the driver of a commercial van and injuring the driver of a semi tractor-trailer near the Paw Paw Exit.
Michigan State Police say the crash happened by a Westbound van from Andy J. Egan, based in Grand Rapids but with a new office in on Plaza Drive in Benton Harbor, apparently lost control and crossed the median directly into the path of a semi licensed to All Points Transportation and Evans Delivery Company out of Pottsville, Pennsylvania.
Egan is a 100 year old mechanical contractor headquartered in Grand Rapids. They opened a unit for plumbing, heating, air-conditioning, refrigeration and controls on Plaza Drive this past spring, and they also have operations in Kalamazoo.
Emergency responders shut down the interstate headed eastbound for several hours to deal with the accident scene, as first responders and other crews dealt with the deadly crash at the 62-mile marker in Van Buren County.
Accident reconstruction teams are working to determine what caused the fatal incident as it remains under investigation.
