Burger enthusiasts are shedding a tear today in Michigan’s Great Southwest.
The North Shore Inn is gone for good, to be replaced by a new incarnation of the North Pier Brewing Company brand. North Shore had closed a couple of weeks ago for an announced reorganization of its operations, but was expected to reopen soon. That plan was scrapped and now the North Shore is history, according to an announcement from the Fettig Family owned North Pier Brewing Company:
“We want to share some bittersweet news with you. After a memorable journey since our reopening in 2018, the North Shore Inn will be bidding farewell. Our initial aspiration was to blend familiarity with innovation, and in many ways, we succeeded, even achieving remarkable sales growth.
“We’ve recently undergone a major managerial change — which long-term will be a huge positive — that led us to make the important decision to close our doors earlier than planned in order to bring our customers a better product, service and experience.
“Over the next few months, we’re rebranding the interior, creating a fresh new menu, and evolving our business model. Moreover, we’re thrilled to extend the North Pier Brewing Company vibes to this location. There are more updates to come, but ultimately you should expect:
1. Great food
2. Great service, and
3. Great overall experience.
We’re genuinely grateful for your support and can’t wait to welcome you to this exciting chapter in our story.”
Jay Fettig tells us under the new model, the North Pier Brewing Company taproom will stay as is, more focused on serving as a place to hang out and have beers complimented by a smaller food menu than what currently exists. He adds that the restaurant, when it reopens, will be more geared toward a sit-down experience for lunch and dinner under the North Pier brand.
North Pier has been highly successful the past several years after re-making an old warehouse structure across the street into an indoor-outdoor showcase for the North Pier Brewery brands. The location in the middle of the Harbor Shores Jack Nicklaus golf course helps drive great seasonal traffic.
