Two meetings will be held next week for Stevensville residents to have their say about what kinds of developments should be in the next village master plan.
Village Manager Kacey Dominguez tells us trustees are working with a team of Andrews University architecture students to draw up a vision for the community. What are they looking at?
“It’s kind of improvement in our infrastructure and wayfinding and creating some more public spaces,” Dominguez said. “So they’re looking at specifically improvements to our parks, possible improvements along Red Arrow Highway and John Beers Road, kind of directing people downtown. They’re looking at our downtown area.”
Dominguez says an Andrews team helped the city of Buchanan draw up a vision for its future, and after she reviewed the results, she reached out to the university to see if another cohort would be interested in working with Stevensville.
Dominguez says when she talks to residents, they often ask for more connectivity around the village in the form of bike and walking paths. So, that’s something likely to wind up in the master plan.
The Andrews team will appear at both the village Planning Commission meeting and the Parks Committee meeting to reveal more. The first meeting is on Tuesday, November 19, while the second is Thursday, November 21. Both are at 6 p.m.
