Where flexibility used to be simply a convenience, the seismic market shift fostered by the pandemic has turned it into an indispensable tool. Nobody has learned that better than the entrepreneurial team at South Haven’s revolutionary ThinkBar CoWorking space.
After soft opening last September, ThinkBar is ready to get to work for the summer season. Starting June 1st, ThinkBar will begin offering revised membership packages, new hourly rates and event space and will be back open Monday through Friday from 8 am – 5 pm ET. Founders of the business tell us the new offerings are a result of the changing market and market needs observed during the pandemic.
Lynzee Krohne, co-owner of the co-working space, says, “The pandemic has created a shift in the market in the way that people work. Flexibility is no longer a convenience, it’s a must have.” She and business partners, Suzanne Loafman and Kayla Weich made the best of the pandemic and slow season leveraging the time to learn the market and the new needs of the community brought forward by COVID. Krohne adds, “Though the pandemic seemed like it was not an ideal time to launch a new business, it allowed us time to learn what shifts have been made in the market due to COVID and make adjustments.”
Throughout the pandemic, business at ThinkBar has held steady. Krohne credits the quick development of a regular customer base for the business’ early success. Bangor native, Leigha Landry Wanczowski, an Employer Brand professional for UL in Northbrook, Illinois is one of the many locals utilizing space there, saying, “We’re in the middle of a major move and staying with family, and I no longer have a home office. As I was struggling through a meeting with spotty internet the other day while my four-year-old threw bread crumbs into my hoodie, I realized how much value ThinkBar has provided to me at such a critical time. I’ve been there since day one of my new job, and it’s eliminated so much stress.”
Business has been on the rise since early March showing signs that the summer season may have gotten an early start, mirroring the fall pattern of an extended season, with Krohne suggesting, “Due to the pandemic, second home owners and mobile remote employees were able to stay in the area longer and utilized ThinkBar quite often last fall. We saw that population return in early March and is steadily increasing.”
ThinkBar is now offering venue space for events up to 50 people, as Krohne reminds us, “South Haven is lacking an affordable rental space for small, DIY-style events. Guests can afford to rent our space, rearrange it how they want, bring in their own food and use the kitchenette and have a great downtown location.” ThinkBar has already hosted several birthday parties, a baby shower and even a small wedding and continues to field calls of interest, as Krohne concludes, “The size, location and DIY component has been very appealing to those interested in venue space.”
ThinkBar is located on the 2nd floor at 610 Phoenix Street in downtown South Haven. The 2,000 square foot boutique co-working space features a variety of work spaces, including private, semi-private and casual professional workstations, creative space, and collaborative group areas. Amenities include complimentary high-speed internet, Wi-Fi, video conferencing abilities, and print/scan/fax technologies.
