New Buffalo’s Stray Dog Closing Temporarily

The popular Stray Dog Restaurant overlooking the harbor in New Buffalo has announced this afternoon that they are closed until at least March 30th in light of the coronavirus environment.

Company officials say, “We’ve carefully considered what we can do at this time and in light of current efforts to maintain a safe ‘social distance’ for both customers and employees, The Stray Dog Bar & Grill has chosen to temporarily close.”

The formal announcement posting reads as follows:

As all of our thoughts are on the COVID-19 situation, we wanted to share an update on how The Stray Dog Bar & Grill and The Stray Dog Gear are responding.

In an effort to protect our community, we have decided to temporarily close both the restaurant and store.

During this time, we will continue to support and pay our employees.

The safety and health of our community, including both our guests and dedicated employees, is always of the utmost importance to us.

As rates of new infections continue to grow in other places, and in the best interest of our guests and employees, we are proceeding with the closure of the restaurant and gear store beginning today, March 15th at 3pm EST, with a planned reopening on Monday, March 30th.

Because the situation is complex and evolving rapidly, our plans may change. If they do, we’ll let you know.

Thank you for your understanding –

Take care of each other!

We will see you soon!
