New Benton Twp C-store, GSJ Market, open on M-139

There’s a new convenience store and gas station on M-139 in Benton Township.

The GSJ Market opened this weekend on an out lot along M-139, in front of the retail complex that houses Joann Fabrics and Ollie’s Bargain Outlet, a little North of Henry’s Hamburgers.  Historically, a small Clark gas station occupied the spot, but it’s been dormant for almost 15 years, as explained by owner Jaspinder Singh:

“The station originally closed in 2010, and we purchased it in 2020. Over the past four years, we’ve worked diligently with Benton Charter Township, MDOT, and the state of Michigan to secure all necessary approvals. Today, January 3, 2025, marks our soft opening, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to introduce GSJ Market to the community. GSJ Market offers fuel, snacks, beverages, coffee, tobacco items, and other typical convenience store products. In addition, we’re introducing pizza as part of our offerings, and we plan to expand into beer and wine sales in the coming weeks as we’re still awaiting final approval from the liquor Commission.”
