New $1.6M Performance FieldHouse to Debut in Paw Paw Soon

A major new $1.6-million sport training facility will debut in Paw Paw next month, bringing a much-needed, and decidedly welcome, year-round opportunity for sports enthusiasts of all sorts to Van Buren County on November 10th.

Kinexus is joining Van Buren County officials in announcing the opening of the new Performance FieldHouse in Paw Paw bringing year-round training for athletes of all ages who will be able to use it for training in everything from baseball and softball to basketball, volleyball and even the hot new game of pickle ball.

Performance FieldHouse is the brainchild of owner and operator Mark Lipson who was steadfast in his drive to make the new facility happen despite several hurdles he needed to overcome along the way. His new facility will swing open the doors at 1pm on Saturday, November 10th in an opening to which the public is invited.

Lipson, a long time coach in the community, shared his excitement, telling us, “Sports have played a large role in my life growing up and still does today. Being able to provide a local facility where youth can further develop their athletic skills and have fun is fulfilling a lifelong dream.”

Paw Paw Village Manager Sarah Moyer-Cale shares in Lipson’s enthusiasm saying, “We are excited to have an attraction like Performance FieldHouse choose to locate in the Village of Paw Paw. Not only does this facility meet a large need for athletic training space, but it provides a safe and fun environment where families can gather in our community.” She adds, “We are proud to partner with Mr. Lipson on the project and see the vision come to fruition.”

Mark was referred to Van Buren County Economic Developer, Zachary Morris, where they identified finance options such as Small Business Administration (SBA) Guaranteed Loans and assisted him with Commercial Tax Exemption through the village of Paw Paw.

Lipson says, “There are resources available to alleviate the frustration of starting up a business. Initially I was denied financing and was concerned with start-up costs, however, after meeting with Mr. Morris I was able to successfully move forward.”

Lipson’s new 16,000 square foot facility will be utilized year-round, as most of the fields are inside. Performance FieldHouse also has two outdoor baseball and softball fields, making it unique in the world of athletic training.

For his part, Morris says, “This is a significant win for Van Buren County and our local communities. Most athletes in the region travel to other areas to receive their training in the off-season and this year-round facility will help fill that gap for Van Buren County residents.“

The FieldHouse is available for rent seven days a week from 7 am to 10 pm weather permitting, and they are currently scheduling both indoor and outdoor reservations. To inquire about reserving field space, interested parties can call (248) 890-3877.
