Melodies of Summer fun, joy, and community will float throughout the City of Dowagiac this season, as the Dowagiac Downtown Development Authority brings back the Music In The Park Concert Series for 2022.
“Lately, there’s been a feeling in downtown Dowagiac that I can only describe as electric. In the past year, we’ve seen new businesses open, existing businesses grow, and there’s much more in the works,” said Dowagiac Mayor Don Lyons.
With ten concerts booked for Thursday nights through early August, this family-friendly event will host many different genres of music and food trucks, thanks to generous sponsors like Lyons Industries, Honor Credit Union, Southwestern Michigan College, and StayDowagiac.com. Concerts will be held at a new venue this year: The Dowagiac Library Event Pavilion, located at 206 Main street– behind the library, where Main Street meets New York Avenue.
All concerts begin at 7:30 p.m, and kicking off the season on June 2nd is the Southwestern Michigan College Brass Band. The Sammy Arepas food truck will be on-site offering delicious Venezuelan cuisine for purchase.
The current rotating food truck schedule for the Summer includes Cajun eats by Nola Roux, volkswagen-smoked BBQ by Wood, Stock, & Grill, and some of Dowagiac’s own restaurants like The Baker’s Rhapsody and Oak + Ash.
Mayor Lyons adds, “This year’s Music in the Park series, with a new location, food vendors, and a fresh infusion of new talent paired with returning favorites, is furthering Dowagiac’s appeal as a destination. I look forward to seeing a wide variety of visitors from Dowagiac and beyond on Thursday nights this summer.”
What an exciting lineup for Thursday evenings in Dowagiac, where you will find Bluegrass, R&B, Country, Latin Rock, and more. For the complete schedule of musical groups, please visit dowagiacmusic.com, or find the individual events on Facebook.
