At first glance, The Aesthetics Lounge and Spa might seem like just another medical spa.   However, a conversation with the medical professionals who work there reveals a practice deeply invested in the holistic well-being of its clients. They go beyond surface-level treatments, addressing emotional and physical needs, especially for those who have experienced trauma, domestic violence, and significant life changes.

Moody on the Market recently sat down with Melissa Kantor, Physician Assistant, and Meagan Olson, Licensed Aesthetician and Laser Technician at The Aesthetics Lounge and Spa, to learn about the practice, what they do, who it’s for, and how it literally helps to change people’s lives.

“In addition to the services we offer, we’re deeply passionate about supporting our clients’ inner wellness — and how that inner peace and confidence radiate outward,” explained Kantor.

“It’s not about being vain. This is a practice for women and men who are starting a new journey in life. It’s not about reversing the aging process, it’s about being proud of who you are and making adjustments to help gain confidence,” added Olson.

The pair explained that The Aesthetics Lounge and Spa is a full-service practice, addressing not only the concerns clients see in the mirror, but also the ones that go deeper than skin.  With a wide range of aesthetic and wellness injectables, advanced laser treatments, and medical-grade skincare, they treat both the visible signs of aging while nurturing confidence and emotional wellness.

“Patients come to us carrying more than what is visible to us on the outside. Perhaps they’re completely exhausted from parenting or caring for a loved one, maybe they’ve suffered trauma or an emotional crisis. Whatever it is, they look in the mirror and think, Help me,'” said Kantor.

Qualified & Experienced Professionals

Kantor has 27 years of experience as a Physician Assistant with more than half of those years working in emergency medicine.

Olson has more than 20 years of experience in the industry and has studied and trained under world-renowned professionals, including Dr. J. Burns and Dr. Patrick Bitter, leaders in the field of aesthetic procedures.

Both admit that before entering the industry, they had a very different perspective on medical spas.

“This industry turned out to be so much more than I ever expected. When I was going through perimenopause, I didn’t feel like myself, I didn’t look like myself. I gained 15 pounds in a single month. Thankfully, Melissa (Kantor) supported me through that journey, and within days, I started to feel like myself again.  One of the most meaningful services we offer is helping patients regain their confidence.  We help bring estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone levels back in balance so one can feel like oneself again.” Said Olson

The practice also caters to individuals who feel that their outward appearance doesn’t align with their inner vitality. “Some people might be 55 years old, but inside they feel like they’re 35. Some young adults might carry scars from an acne problem they suffered as a child,” said Olson. “Many times, people just want help so they can look the way they feel on the inside.”

Helping people recover

One powerful example highlighting the impact of their work — a client who, for years, carried the visible scars of domestic violence-related strangulation, finally found solace and healing through Olson’s laser treatments.

“My client sadly shared, ‘I’ve looked at these broken blood vessels for 20 years,'” Meagan recalled. “Then she sat there and cried. She told me, ‘I can’t remember what I looked like before — it’s been that long.’ That moment reminded me that what we do is much more than softening wrinkles.  We provide a safe, supportive space for people to share their stories — and in the process, we help restore one’s confidence and sense of self-worth.”

Beyond addressing trauma, The Aesthetics Lounge and Spa offers a comprehensive wellness program that includes IV Therapy, NAD+ peptide therapy, Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy, and medical weight loss.

They also collaborate with local businesses, recognizing that sustainable weight loss and wellness require a comprehensive approach, including physical fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle support.

Kantor and Olson are passionate about empowering their clients to embrace aging gracefully. “Aging is a privilege,” Kantor shared. “Wrinkles are the roadmap of a life well-lived.  People who die young never get the chance to experience them. So yes — aging is a gift.  Sometimes, though, people just want to soften the edges to feel more confident as they grow older.  In that case, we provide subtle treatments designed to enhance their natural appearance, not change it.”

Continuous learning & holistic approach

Because The Aesthetics Lounge and Spa in St. Joseph is part of a network of 19 facilities, they’re able to keep their prices competitive.  The team constantly investigates new products and makes sure current procedures are up to date. They also prioritize safety and continuously re-evaluate their techniques and products.

“We are not a static group,” says Kantor. “We are a fluid and actively growing group. We also leverage a network of peer practitioners, ensuring we all have access to the latest research and best practices.”

The Aesthetics Lounge and Spa is deeply rooted in the local community, proudly giving back through charitable initiatives.  From collecting pet food and supplies for the Berrien County Animal Shelter to raising funds for the Berrien County Cancer Service — even if it means sitting on a pink toilet to do it — their team is “all in” when it comes to making a difference.

Ultimately, Olson and Kantor view their work as a way to empower individuals to feel their best, both inside and out, saying they are advocates for holistic wellness and transformation. “We’re real,” said Kantor. “We are women who are moms. We have a football team of children among all of us, so we can relate. If we can help someone look and feel better both inside and out, then we’ve achieved our goal.”
