Michigan’s 3rd cannabis consumption lounge to open in SWMI on 4/20

For the first time, users of cannabis in southwest Michigan will be able to legally consume the product at a public business.

The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi announced it will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday, April 14 for Rolling Embers, its new retail store and outdoor consumption lounge at 19279 Kinst Road in New Buffalo. An official grand opening will follow on the unofficial cannabis-smoker’s holiday of April 20.

Located on tribal land just south of I-94 Exit 1 and a stone’s throw from Four Winds Casino, the consumption lounge will be just the third in the state of Michigan, with the other two located more than 200 miles away in Kalkaska and the Detroit suburb of Hazel Park.

Rolling Embers will offer a wide variety of premium, high-quality adult-use cannabis products including flower, pre-rolls, edibles, and vape products.

“We’re not an exclusive club, says the Rolling Embers website, of the consumption lounge. “But we do want you to feel special while you’re here. So we provide a safe space for social events, casual hangouts, solo outings, and more where you can enjoy Michigan’s cannabis-friendly community. Same day in-store purchase required.”

The Pokagon Band retained Opus Consulting, a business management firm with years of experience in the cannabis industry, to assist in the development and management of the facility.
