Sales in June dropped some for Michigan retailers by about five percentage points from May. However, Michigan Retailers Association spokesperson Andrea Bitely told Michigan Ness Network retailers are have a good outlook for the next three months with back to school sales.
“Michigan retailers are remaining optimistic,” Bitely said. “More than 50% of Michigan retailers are seeing June, July, August sales as positive, and in fact, for the new outlook, the 90 day outlook, Michigan retailers are very positive about what retail prices are seeing.”
Bitely says some retailers continue to see supply and staffing shortages. She says they’ll continue to track the changes in the retail market related to inflation. They’ll also watch the supply chain going into the holiday season.
