The Michigan Maritime Museum in South Haven is gearing up for the holidays with its annual Holidays at the Heritage Center.

Visitors can capture the Christmas spirit at three events. Maritime Museum spokesperson Brent Paige tells us why they continue this event yearly.

“We look at this as a chance to allow individuals that may not have visited the museum before to have a chance to come in and take a look around,” Paige says. “We’re decorated top to bottom. We have seven decorated Christmas trees on display. The museum is in its finest holiday regalia.”

On December 14, visitors can get into the holiday cheer with cookies, cocoa, and Christmas stories with Captain Bob of Friends of Goodwill from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Then on December 18 beginning at 3:30 p.m., you can hear some holiday tunes and catch a selfie with Santa.

“Santa will be arriving at the Maritime Museum via boat,” Paige says. “Following that at 6:30 is our holiday concert featuring Kal-Haven Strings. They’ll be performing traditional sea shanties, Celtic classics, and holiday music.”

The annual Christmas celebration will be held now until January 4. The Michigan Maritime Museum is located at 260 Dyckman Ave in South Haven.
