Michigan Gas Utilities is looking to fill a position that’s in pupular demand — its next safe digging ambassadog (word play credit to Michigan Gas Utilities).
Now through April 7, the company is accepting applications for its top dog on safety that will be featured in a public campaign promoting the message to call 811 at least three days before you dig.
According to MGU, to enter the contest, take a couple of photos of your dog digging or sitting in their favorite place to dig, then go to michigangasutilities.com to submit the photos before 11:59 p.m. April 7.
Michigan Gas will narrow the entries to a few finalists before giving customers the ruff job of voting for one winner. The top dog will be the star of the company’s safe digging awareness campaign throughout the next year.
Last year, MGU customers and dog lovers alike voted to make Raven Ruckus, a 1-year-old Wheaten Terrier mix from Petersburg, the company ambassadog.
About 811
MGU says digging can be dangerous if you don’t call 811 at least three days in advance. Whether you’re planting a garden or installing a fence, it’s important to have the location of underground utilities marked to keep you and your family safe. Calling 811 or notifying MISS DIG 811 is easy, it’s free and it’s the law.
