The Michigan Flywheelers Museum in South Haven will be the place to be next month if you’re into antique tractors.

The museum’s annual South Haven Tractor and Antique Engine and Tractor Show will begin on Thursday, September 5. Flywheelers Museum President Pat Ingalls tells us they’ve held the event since the mid-90s, and tractors from all over the Midwest come to town.

Things start off with the annual South Haven Tractor Cruise that day at 4 p.m. More than 100 antique tractors will leave the museum cross I0196, and then head to South Beach.

“We just meet up by the office at the museum and we have a range of police escort,” Ingalls said. “We drive primarily backroads to get into South Haven. There was in the past been upwards of 70 tractors, so we caused quite a traffic jam.”

Ingalls says the Antique Engine and Tractor Show starting the same day at the museum will run through Sunday, September 8.

“We have almost 80 acres on our property and we probably fill 65 acres of it at least with tractors and engines. People from all over the Midwest will bring stuff in and we have hundreds of tractors. Every day we have a tractor parade and on Saturday it’s been known to go over two hours long.”

They’ll also have a sawmill in operation, plenty of displays to check out, and antiques.

Anyone interested in participating in the Tractor Cruise will need a slow moving sign and a full tank of gas. The lineup begins at 3:30 p.m. on September 5, and registration is not needed. Ingalls says people with antique tractors just need to show up with them. The cruise will start at 4 p.m.

Admission to the Antique Engine and Tractor Show will be $10.
