Being tops in your industry sector is rewarding in any year, but it is doubly rewarding when you are at the top of your game during a global pandemic that forced all kinds of re-invention and other maneuvering to stay in the lead. Such is the case for Honor Credit Union, headquartered in Berrien Springs, which has been awarded Outstanding Credit Union of the Year honors by the Michigan Credit Union League.
The Michigan Credit Union League (MCUL) and Michigan Credit Union Foundation (MCUF) awards recognize credit unions, professionals, and volunteers across the state for their superior service and dedication to the credit union movement.
MCUL President & CEO Dave Adams says, “As everyone knows, 2020 was a tough year. Specifically, in Michigan, between COVID-19 hitting the state and the Midland flooding that happened over the summer, there were many challenges. However, last year’s challenges make it all the more rewarding to take a moment and recognize some of the many professionals in our movement that stepped up to help their colleagues, members, and community in 2020.”
Among those recipients was Honor Credit Union taking home the top prize for Large-Asset-Size Outstanding Credit Union of the Year. Scott McFarland, Honor Credit Union CEO says, “This award is such an accomplishment for our Honor Team. This past year, we have made it our mission to take care of our members as we take care of each other. To be recognized for our outstanding service is an honor, indeed.” He adds, “Although 2020 brought many obstacles, we thought outside the box and persevered to ensure we were offering the best possible service to our members. I could not be prouder of our Honor family and grateful to the MCUL for recognizing our efforts.”
MCUL and MCUF award winners will be formally honored at MCUL’s 2021 Annual Convention & Exposition in Traverse City this August.
