Washington Avenue over I-94 in St. Joseph Township will be closing this week. The Michigan Department of Transportation says the closure is in preparation for the $204 million reconstruction project taking place on I-94 between Stevensville and Benton Harbor. Washington over the highway will shut down this Thursday and remain closed through September 2. MDOT will be preparing the bridge for the main construction taking place next year. The work on the bridge will include deck patching, joint replacement, an epoxy overlay, and surface coating. A detour taking drivers down Maiden Lane, Lincoln Avenue, and Vineland Road will be posted. You can find out more at Michigan.gov/Drive.
