When life tosses a bunch of lemons your way, you can either throw your hands in the air and give up, or you can crank up the old courage meter and squeeze your way to lemonade. In the case of Tara Pitcher, there was never a doubt that with a name like Pitcher she was destined to convert the lemons to a pitcher full of lemonade.
Tara has worked for the past 15 years at the Main Street Salon in downtown Stevensville. At least she was until the lemons started rolling in the form of a new owner for that building and a relatively short time ramp to find a new place to continue her career.
Fortunately for Tara, she convinced her husband Joe that the beautiful building between the Admiral Gasoline Service Station and Tyler Honda along Red Arrow Highway in Stevensville would be the perfect place to launch an entirely new venture. Faced with an April 27th deadline, Tara squeezed out a pitcher-full of moxie and convinced fellow stylists Nicole, Jill, Beth and Emily to join her in a new salon they call The Color Palette Salon.
Anchored now at 4336 Red Arrow Highway, The Color Palette Salon has been booming. In fact, there’s only one chair left to rent out and a gorgeous 10-by-10 foot space for a massage therapist, nail tech or chiropractor who would like to join the team.
Tara tells me they opened up shop on the day after Mother’s Day and business has been great. That makes the decision to proceed with her dream plan all the better for not only Tara, but for her building partner Joe and their three sons. Both Tara and Joe were born and raised here and love Michigan’s Great Southwest.
Tara says, “I’ve been very impressed at how supportive both this community and my husband have been in helping me to pursue my dream!”
You’ll find The Color Palette Salon open for business every Monday through Friday from 10am to 7pm and on Saturdays from 10 until 2. You can call ahead for an appointment at 269-588-3030, and they also accept walk-in clients as well.
