A once-popular fast food chain based in Michigan is making a comeback.

Holt-based Hot ‘n Now had more than 150 locations at its peak after first opening in 1984. The chain declined in the 2000s, and only has one location in Michigan today, in Sturgis.

Now, Gun Lake Investments has announced it’s acquired the Hot ‘n Now brand and will open two new locations this year, one near the Gun Lake Casino in Wayland, and one in Alpena. The company has plans to follow that up with more openings in the coming years.

Gun Lake Investments is owned by the Gun Lake Tribe, part of the Pottawatomi. GLI Chief Executive Officer Monica King says the company is thrilled about the brand acquisition and opportunity to expand.

Hot ‘n Now operated a Benton Harbor location, on Napier Avenue, that closed in the 2000s.
