Hundreds of policymakers and community leaders are gathered on Mackinac Island this week for the annual Mackinac Policy Conference. Wright Lassiter the Third, who is this year’s conference chair, says re-imagining a healthy Michigan is the main theme. He spoke with Michigan News Network.
“We want to think broadly about what it means to be healthy, what it means for each resident of the state to be healthy, and as a healthcare executive, I can attest that medical care, while important, only accounts for a small percentage of a person’s overall health,” Lassiter said.
Along with private conversations taking place, many of the discussions will focus on recovering from the pandemic and advancing racial justice and equity for all. Leaders from around the state are discussing how to do so in a COVID dominated world.
