M-60, Oak Street Gets $541K Resurfacing in Niles Starting Monday

As road construction season continues to ramp up, we’re getting news today from the Michigan Department of Transportation that resurfacing will get underway starting next Monday, May 18th on the M-60 Business Route crossing the Berrien/Cass County border in Niles.

Also known in the community as Oak Street, the upcoming project will invest $541,000 in resurfacing 2-miles of the roadway from 17th Street in Niles to Sandy Lane in Cass County’s Howard Township. The project will also include sidewalk ramp upgrades and new pavement markings.

MDOT says the the eight-week project is slated for completion by Sunday, July 12th, and is designed to improve safety and ride quality for drivers, while extending the life of the roadway.

Lane closures will take place during the resurfacing, with traffic maintained by traffic regulators.

MDOT says the road construction project is an essential function, and reminds transportation workers in the field to follow Centers for Disease Control guidelines to limit their risk of getting sick.
