It’s a big boost for Michigan’s electric future. Ford Motor Company announced plans for a $3.5 billion electric vehicle battery plant in Marshall. Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist says the move is great for Michigan’s economy and its role as a leader in EV technology.
“State-of-the-art EV batteries will be built in this facility and they will be designed and perfected in Romulus so it can be deployed in Marshall,” says Gilchrist. “This will be one of the most important investments that Ford makes for the future of the company. They chose the state of Michigan because of our talented people and because of the site that was ready for them to build.”
Gilchrist appeared on the Michigan Department of Transportation’s “Talking Transportation” podcast.
