It's the kind of show that America used to gather around the TV set to watch every Sunday night — the live variety show. That genre largely disappeared from the flickering TV screen years ago, replaced occasionally by such offerings as America's Got Talent, or American Idol, but you now have the opportunity to resurrect your role as an audience member in a live setting coming next week to the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center.
Lake Michigan College’s Performing Arts department will present a new variety show called LIVE @ The Mendel Center on Friday March 18.
A myriad of lively performances by dancers, musicians, and laugh-out-loud comedians formulate a production with something for everyone, and an evening not to be missed.
LIVE @ The Mendel Center is hosted and directed by professional guitarist and vocalist, Dan Maxon. Performers include local band The Faction, singer/songwriter Sam Blyveis, dancers from Fusion Center for Dance, and LMC performing arts students including Japanese pianist, Masashi Sekioka.
Maxon is also an alum of LMC’s performing arts program. He says, “This is a coming home of sorts and a way to give back to the college and the community. We have a great lineup of talent, and those who attend are in for a fantastic evening of entertainment.”
LIVE @ The Mendel Center will be presented Friday, March 18 at 7pm. Tickets for the event are $20 per person and include hors d’oeuvres or $7 per person for the show only. A cash bar will be available.
Tickets may be ordered in advance online by clicking this link: TheMendelCenter.com or by calling The Mendel Center box office at (269) 927-1221. Those who wish to attend are encouraged to order tickets early. Seating is limited to the first one hundred patrons.
