Michigan's Great Southwest football fans…and especially Benton Harbor Tiger Football fans…are rapidly sending the buzz through the community. Joique Bell is a Detroit Lion once again.
The Detroit Lions organization announced today that they have once again signed the Benton Harbor native as a running back for the team, whose fortunes have changed dramatically as the 2016 campaign has marched forward. Bell wasn't the only signing today, as Corner Back Asa Jackson was also added to the team's 53-man active roster.
On the opposite side of that transaction, Defensive End Armonty Bryant and Corner Back Quandre Diggs were placed on the Reserve/Injured list for the team. Bryant has knee injuries and for Diggs it is a pectoral issue. Additionally, Tight End Brandon Pettigrew was moved from the team's Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform roster to their Reserve/Non-Football Injury list.
Bell returns to the Lions after most recently being released in late October by the Chicago Bears where he played in just four games. Joique stands 5'11' and weighs in at 231. He was a Detroit Lion for four seasons from 2012 through 2015, making appearances in 60 games during which he carried the ball 561 times for 2,235 yards and 22 touchdowns. As a receiver he also scored one touchdown and racked up 1,640 yards for 161 receptions. He averaged 4 yards per carry as a running back and more than 10-yards per carry when on the receiving end of passes from Lions quarterbacks.
Asa Jackson joins the Lions from the Baltimore Ravens' practice squad.
Bell rejoins the Lions just in time for their matchup against the Chicago Bears next Sunday at Ford Field in Detroit.
