‘Lest We Forget’ Marks Veterans Day with Concert & Events

Celebrate and honor our veterans and their families on Sunday November 14th, 2021 with Lest We Forget during the annual Veterans Day Patriotic Concert at the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center in Benton Harbor. This free concert will feature the Southshore Concert Band led by Dale Reuss, and begins at 2:00pm.

The theme for this year’s concert is Duty, Honor, Country, and will showcase our veterans prior to the concert. Veterans are asked to arrive at 1:00pm to have their picture taken by Lest We Forget, and will have their photo mailed to them.

As this year marks the 100th Anniversary of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, former local Sentinel of the Tomb, Stuart Aspinall, will give a history and discuss his assignments and duties while he served as a Tomb Guard from 2018-2020. In addition to the concert band, vocal arrangements and visual elements will display our American ideals, while honoring United States military forces. To offer tribute to our veterans no longer with us, their photographs will be shown during the singing of “The Mansions of the Lord”.

Stuart Aspinall will give a public presentation on Wednesday November 10th, in the Lyons Auditorium at Southwestern Michigan College in Dowagiac at 6:00pm, hosted by the Buchanan American Legion Post 51.

At 11:00 am on Thursday morning November 11th, Stuart will join the Daughters of the American Revolution on the bluff in St. Joe, to participate in a wreath laying ceremony.

He will also speak at the Buchanan American Legion Hall on Thursday at 5:00 pm.

These events are all free and open to the public.
