The 2023 Leadership Training Workshop in Benton Harbor kicks off next week with four sessions of training in a variety of areas for city officials and residents. Speaking to Benton Harbor City Commissioners this week, Princella Tobias with Benton Harbor Team Solutions said the workshops are a partnership between the city and the Great Lakes Community Action Partnership. They’re going to cover everything from government to community development to management.
“That is what the city of Benton Harbor is trying to do in partnership with Great Lakes, is to build up the residents and others in this community, by hosting the Leadership Training Workshop here in Benton Harbor,” Tobias said.
Tobias said part of the sessions will specifically focus on water systems. Nicholas Gunn with Benton Harbor Team Solutions told commissioners the events will train the community leaders of tomorrow.
“Diversity, equity, and inclusion,” Gunn said. “There will be more frameworks [like] active listening, how to be an active listener. Also, how to manage a budget.”
There will be four sessions, all from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Their dates are September 13, September 27, October 10, and October 25. All will be held at September 13, September 27, October 10, and October 25. Registration is encouraged by Thursday. The training is free, and lunch will be provided. Tobias said those who attend are encouraged to attend all four sessions.
