Marijuana plants will start growing at 305 Farms in Lawrence in the next week. The grow facility held a grand opening this week and will grow 2,500 plants. Vice president of business developent Mitchell Maltz says they have worked two and a half years to get the permits and permission for the business along with the first phase of development. The name 305 Farms is in reference to Miami, Florida, where Maltz and Verleur Group LLC CEO Matthew Peon are from. The marijuana takes around 135 days to grow and be dried before being processed as joints, gummies, or sold as flower. Maltz adds they will only sell marijuana with at least 25% THC under the label Workers Cannabis. They plan to open small shops in rural areas in the next six-to-eight months and focus on delivery.
