Lakeshore Coach Dock to Keynote Relay for Life St. Patrick’s Dinner

The man who holds multiple state championship titles while coaching at Lakeshore High School will help get participants in Berrien County’s 2020 Relay for Life pumped up this weekend at a special St. Patrick’s Day Dinner & Dance fundraiser and you are invited.

Organizers of the Berrien County Relay for Life are holding the St. Patrick’s Day Dinner and Dance this Saturday, March 14th, at Pebblewood Country Club on Jericho Road in Bridgman, and all proceeds will benefit Relay For Life, the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.

The event features a dinner of beef and chicken with all the trimmings, live music, cash bar and a silent auction, with doors opening at 5:30 pm and festivities beginning at 6 pm.

Denny Dock, Lakeshore High School Softball Coach and returning head Football Coach, will be the special guest speaker. Dock, who also is a retired Lakeshore High School teacher, has won seven state-championship titles as Varsity Softball Coach. He returns to the sidelines this year for his 34th season as a Varsity Football Coach and the 27th at the helm of the Lancers. During his career at Lakeshore, the Lancers compiled 26 winning seasons, 11 conference championships, 17 playoff appearances, nine district championships, and five regional championships.

Janet Wartman, Senior Community Development Manager for the American Cancer Society, says, “We are honored to have Coach Dock join us for the evening,” adding, “He has had a tremendous positive impact on countless teens and their families in our area, and possesses the fighting spirit necessary to take on cancer — and win.”

Wartman said this marks the 25th year for Relay For Life here in Berrien County, noting, “We are blessed to have a core of passionate and dedicated volunteers who truly are making a difference in the fight against cancer in our local communities.”

Tickets for the event are $50 per person and are available from any Relay For Life volunteer or may be purchased on the Relay For Life Facebook page at Relay For Life of Berrien County, or by contacting Wartman at janet.wartman@cancer.org or by phone at 219-614-3282.
