Lake Michigan College to Host Women’s Health Roundtable Discussion

Lake Michigan College is hosting a Women’s Health Roundtable discussion at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 4. This free event is open to the public and will be held in the Main Academic Building, Room L-310/311, on the College’s Benton Harbor Campus, 2755 E. Napier Avenue.

Women make up more than half of the population, yet their specialized health needs are often overlooked. Despite growing attention, health care disparities continue to exist. A panel of local health experts will discuss their thoughts on the most important issues related to women’s health and how these can be addressed in 2025. Panel members scheduled to participate are:

Dana Jenkins
Lake Michigan College Nursing Program Instructor
Jenkins holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice and Masters in Nursing Education from Valparaiso University. Among her professional affiliations is membership in the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN).

Nadine Pierre Kelly
Retired Medical Doctor (pathologist) & Founder of NPK Health Integration
In addition to her health care background, Kelly is also an experienced registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance, health integration coach, former Akimbo Workshops head coach (founded by Seth Godin), a contributor to Medscape, and host of the Health Raisers podcast.

Amy Underwood
Concierge Occupational Therapist & Founder of Health Elevated
Based in Southwest Michigan, Underwood specializes in pelvic health services and has worked with thousands of adults and children of all ages to create results that have improved their quality of life while empowering them to permanently overcome their health challenges.

Tameka White
Founder, Doula, Lactation Specialist, LACTPOWER
White is a certified lactation specialist, birth and postpartum doula and certified childbirth educator, a Member of the CORE Cohort and MI Milk Collective, a 2023 Caring Across the Generations Fellow. LACTPOWER is a grassroots effort to empower Black families throughout the birth and breastfeeding continuum by providing education and support services.

Since 2022, this annual roundtable series has brought in experts to focus on key issues impacting our community. Past topics have included water quality, housing, and artificial intelligence.
