Krasl Seeks Artists for Unique Exhibit Opportunities at KAC

Krasl Art Center (KAC) seeks artists for three unique opportunities in 2023.   KAC’s mission to Inspire Meaningful Change and Strengthen Community through the Visual Arts is achieved in part through its display of contemporary artwork both indoors and in public outdoor spaces. Full details on all artist opportunities are available online at krasl.org/art/artist-opportunities.

Three distinct opportunities are available for 2023: a site-specific installation in celebration of Pride, an interactive outdoor installation in KAC’s East Garden, and an indoor exhibition in The Lab at KAC. In each instance, artists are invited to apply individually or as a collaborating group.

PRIDE 2023

LGBTQIA+ artists are invited to propose 2D designs for vinyl installations on the exterior of the art center, on view starting summer 2023. Now in its second year, KAC’s Pride Project is a high-impact display intended to showcase LGBTQIA+ artwork to visitors and frequent pedestrian traffic all summer long. The display will utilize vinyl wraps on two areas of the building that respond to the theme, Strengthening, Inspiring, Changing.

Proposals are due March 17. The selected artist(s) will have until April 18 to complete their ideas, and the installations will be on display for one year beginning in late May. Full details are available in the Call for Artists online at krasl.org/art/artist-opportunities.

EAST GARDEN

KAC seeks artists to submit a proposal for an outdoor, summer-long installation in its East Garden. The East Garden is a green space on KAC’s campus dedicated in memory of Maria G. “Lupe” Hopp to inspire a sense of play, wonder, and reflection through interactive contemporary art installations.

Proposals are due March 17, artists will be notified by March 31, and the project will be on view late May – fall 2023. Examples of past projects can be found online at krasl.org/east-garden. Application details are available in the Call For Artists online at krasl.org/art/artist-opportunities.

THE LAB

The Lab at KAC is a gallery dedicated to installation, time-based media, sound, and light. Proposals for The Lab are always open and reviewed on an ongoing basis year-round. This year, The Lab returns to its experimental roots and KAC seeks emerging artists to submit solo or group exhibition proposals for fall. The Lab is not afraid to showcase the fruit of visual experimentation, and it does not require a ‘finished product’ or an ‘established artist’ to display.

Opportunities to display artwork begin as early as September 2023, and proposals are held and considered for a period of up to 2 years.

To see examples of past exhibitions, visit krasl.org/art/past. Full details are available in the Call for Artists, and the online application is open year-round at krasl.org/art/artist-opportunities.

Artists interested in any of these projects (and more) can visit krasl.org/art/artist-opportunities.
