The Krasl Art Center is inviting members of the community, friends, families, and all those in between to attend the 31st volume of “PechaKucha St. Joseph/Benton Harbor” this month.

PechaKucha, which means “chit chat” in Japanese, is a presentation format where 20 images are shown by local artists, each for 20 seconds. That gives presenters a total of 400 seconds to tell their story, with visuals leading the narrative. PechaKucha St. Joseph/Benton Harbor has been bringing local creatives to center-stage for nine years now, and this month’s event will be on September 20 at the Ghostlight Theater in Benton Harbor.

More than three million people worldwide have attended PechaKucha events, and the Krasl Art Center’s Jamie Balkin  says it’s a full night of storytelling and fun.

“What’s unique about the event is you get to hear stories from all different ages, all different backgrounds, and it’s just a beautiful, beautiful evening in our community,” Balkin said.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair to sit on and to buy tickets early because they sell out fast. In the event of rain or bad weather, only 85 people will allowed in.
