Storm-ravaged Louisiana will receive help from Indiana Michigan Power (I&M) as it
is Powering the Next Restoration Effort after Hurricane Ida disrupted electric service to more than a
million customers. Tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 1, 300 I&M employees and contract crews will travel to
Louisiana.
Line workers, forestry experts, safety personnel and fleet experts
will leave tomorrow morning, heading to Baton Rouge, Louisiana
to assist Entergy with its massive restoration efforts. I&M
employees and contract crews will leave from across I&M’s
service territory, including Fort Wayne, Muncie/Marion, South
Bend/Elkhart and Southwest Michigan.
I&M employees have a long-history of working safely to restore
communities in the wake of natural disasters. In fact, the
company has mutual assistance agreements with utilities across
the nation and is always available to help weather permitting.
