Inaugural Class of Moody on the Market Bold Women of Business to be Revealed Monday

Rolling out a new award in our heritage series recognizing excellence and dedication in the community of Michigan’s Great Southwest has proven to be a wise decision here at Moody on the Market.

The inclusion in late winter of an entirely new award focused on the Bold Women of Business across the region has drawn a huge response of nearly 90 nominations of women of all ages across the Tri-county area of Berrien, Cass, and Van Buren Counties, and the results of the competition will be revealed early Monday morning, April 18th, 2022.

Made possible by the sponsorship of the Southwest Michigan Regional Chamber, McGhee’s Heating & Air Conditioning, Honor Credit Union and the Inn at Harbor Shores with support from United Way of Southwest Michigan and the Mason Jar Cafe, the new entry onto the awards scene has produced a powerhouse showcase of bold women from our area who come from a wide range of companies and organizations.

The Herculean task of reading all of those nominations and winnowing down the list to the top 20 winners was chaired by Jerry Price from Spectrum Health Lakeland, and to be fair to all women in our region, we tapped a couple of former southwest Michigan residents who relocated elsewhere in the country in the past several years to join that selection committee. Our thanks to Rachael Ogle who now lives in Louisville, Kentucky and Danae Donatello who has relocated to Bayville, New Jersey, for their work in producing the winner’s list.

The 20 winners to be announced Monday come from everything from manufacturing and hospitality to marketing and finance. From entertainment and fitness to government and education, and from health care to the non-profit sector.

They also live in multiple places including winners from St. Joseph and Benton Harbor to Stevensville, Berrien Springs, Baroda, Eau Claire, Bridgman, Mattawan and Watervliet.

We asked each of these amazing women for a little peek behind the curtain at key moments in their careers that have propelled them to their position of strength, to provide advice to others on how to be a bold woman of action, and even to select from a series of descriptors to self-identify with traits of bold women in the workplace.

The most popular selections among the list of 14 such descriptors proved to be Strong, Confident, Brave, Bright and Distinctive.

Monday morning shortly after the 7am news on The Morning Show with Jonny Reinhardt on WSJM Radio, 94.9-FM and the Coast Social Network with Zack East, the winning profiles will be shared here on Moody on the Market for everyone to see and read to learn more about the remarkable women in our midst helping to make a huge difference in the quality of life for all of us.

Return here on Monday after 7:30am to see who made the list, and because this is our inaugural year for the 2021 award, there will be a second nomination series late this year to select the Bold Women of Business for 2022 as well.

Watch, as well, for the nomination process coming early in May for the Moody on the Market 20 Best Places to Work in Michigan’s Great Southwest.
