Turns out that analyzing your customer data and other business intelligence efforts can produce not only a stronger business performance, but also earn a little peer recognition as well. That’s what Scott McFarland and his colleagues have learned at Honor Credit Union this week.
McFarland is Chief Executive Officer for Honor Credit Union and he has been awarded what is called the Spirit of CU*Answers Award for his team’s work on the analytical front.
The Spirit of CU*Answers Award is focused on contributions of credit unions aimed at volunteerism, member focus, and collaboration. Only one credit union is selected annually nationwide for the honor and the trophy is presented at the Annual CU*Answers Leadership Conference.
That’s where McFarland received the 2017 trophy for his crew’s analytical prowess which helps the Berrien Springs-based credit union to focus on personalizing the member experience every day. The Honor Credit Union Business Intelligence team provides real time support to the credit union’s branch and member service teams. Honor Credit Union recognizes that the definition of financial success is not a one-size-fits-all solution, and their Business Intelligence team helps make each member’s definition possible.
McFarland says, “Honor Credit Union takes pride in the personal and unique experiences we provide to our members both in the branch and through our digital solutions.” He adds, “That personalized experience wouldn’t be possible without the hard and diligent work of our Business Intelligence team.”
CU*Answers is an industry association, a cooperative credit union service organization. From data processing and computer network support to image check processing and customized marketing campaigns, CU*Answers helps credit unions nationwide address their every need, every day for more than 176 credit unions nationally, representing 1.9 million members and $19 billion in credit union assets.
McFarland’s predecessor at Honor Credit Union, back when it was still Berrien Teachers Credit Union, Bob Mackay served as a member of the CU*Answers Board of Directors from 1985 to 2007 (and was Chairman for 19 of those years). Mackay’s leadership and inspiration served not only as a guide but as the compass for CU*Answers to grow and prosper into an organization that is now known in the industry for its core values of cooperation, collaboration and innovation. Since 2005 that organization has awarded one other key honor, The Robert H. Mackay Leadership Award. That award was presented this year to Dennis Degenhardt, the CEO of Glacier Hills Credit Union in West Bend, Wisconsin.
Honor Credit Union serves more than 65,000 members across the State of Michigan. They’re the first to tell you that providing solutions for financial success and giving back to the communities they serve remain the driving forces behind Honor Credit Union.
