Honor CU Cuts Ribbon on Stadium Drive, Appoints CPO

These are busy days for the team at Honor Credit Union as they cut the ribbon on their new Kalamazoo Member Center, appointed a new CPO (Chief People Officer), and are prepping for ground breaking ceremonies for a new Member Center in Berrien Springs.

Team Honor held the official ribbon cutting ceremony of its Stadium Drive Member Center on Friday, October 9th. Member Center Manager, Jessica Kline and Honor team members, alongside Southwest Michigan First, Intersect Studio, E.C. Moore, and various members of the community, gathered at 4400 Stadium Drive to celebrate the grand opening of their modern and innovative space in Kalamazoo. Jeanne Hess, Kalamazoo City Commissioner, and Nivia Marquis, representing the office of Fred Upton, were among the distinguished guests who attended that event.

Designed by Intersect Studio, the construction of Stadium Drive was led by E.C. Moore. The new highly visible member center features a full-service lobby, night deposit drop, coin machine, and drive-thru service with three brand-new ATM Live Tellers that feature extended hours to better serve members.

Mason McFarland, Honor’s Community Assistant Vice President of the Greater Kalamazoo Area, says, “I’m extremely excited about the new Stadium location. This space will give us the ability to deepen our relationship with members as well as provided space that our community can take advantage of.” He adds, “In addition to the member center itself, our team is ready to serve you and help you reach financial success. I look forward to the value and connections that this space will bring the Kalamazoo community.”

Located at 4400 Stadium Drive in Kalamazoo, the new member center is open to members during the following business hours:

Meanwhile, Honor Credit Union has announced the internal promotion of Katie Berry. Formerly serving as Vice President of Human Resources, Berry recently accepted the role of Chief People Officer (CPO).

Berry was raised, and still resides, in Buchanan, where she and her husband, Jeff, share two daughters, Aspen and Reese, as well as their dog, Tango. They love sports and when they aren’t busy attending their daughters’ athletic events, they can usually be found spending time with family.

Berry holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Central Michigan University with a major in Human Resources Management. She started at Honor Credit Union in 2009 as a Benefits Specialist and has held various roles with responsibilities in Training, Recruiting, and Human Resources until most recently being named the Vice President of Human Resources in January 2017.

As the CPO, Berry will continue to lead the Human Resources, Organizational Development and Talent Acquisition teams in addition to the Communications Coordinator. She believes the continuous alignment of these teams will drive and support Honor’s positive culture, saying, “Having the ‘people’ voice included in all strategic conversations reinforces our dedication to our commitment of placing people first. My goal is to continue to ensure that the people impact is considered in each decision we make.”

Berry concludes, “I have enjoyed being a part of the growth at Honor. When I started, we had 77 team members and now we have approximately 350. I truly appreciate working for an organization that is dedicated to taking care of our team, so we can take care of our member owners.”

Finally, next week, Honor Credit Union will break ground on a new Member Center in Berrien Springs directly in front of their current center which is being replaced.
