Honor Credit Union ‘Free Shred Days’ Recycled 95k pounds of paper in 2023

Honor Credit Union says its efforts to keep stacks of paperwork out of Michigan’s landfills is working, one ‘Free Shred Day’ at a time.

This year, Honor hosted 10 free events across its 28 member center communities in partnership with Data Guardian.

In total, 94,620 pounds of paper was safely shredded and destroyed. These events are held annually for the public at no cost to encourage waste reduction in Honor communities and promote protecting personal information and confidential documents through a recycling service.

Honor says “This service aligns with Honor’s commitment to supporting a green initiative through digital services offered to members, such as mobile banking and e-statements.”

Honor extends its gratitude to its business partners who offered to host a shred day event at their locations, including Crossroads Restaurant & Lounge, Lakeshore High School, Moonraker Lounge & Restaurant, and Paw Paw Brewing.

The 2024 Free Community Shred Day schedule will be released early next year.
