It’s the end of an era for health food lovers in St. Joseph as Helen’s Health Hut is closing. The hut’s Kim Greening tells us the store’s going out of business sale started Tuesday and will continue through June 3, which will be its final day of operation. Helen’s Health Hut has been in business since 1978, and Greening has owned it since 2009. She says COVID, inflation, and the rise of online shopping and big box stores have led to the decision to close Helen’s. She writes she and her staff “will greatly miss the relationships we developed with our loyal community of customers and want every single one of them to know that they were integral in keeping an independent mom and pop shop open for 44 years.” Helen’s Health Hut is located at 615 Pleasant Street in St. Joseph. Everyone’s invited to stop by during its final sale. Shoppers are advised all will be final, and no other discounts will apply.
