The Hartford Public Library is now outfitted with new electronic doors, thanks to a grant from the American Library Association.

The Hartford Library says it’s one of 310 libraries to participate in round two of “Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities,” a program of the national association. The $10,000 grant for the Hartford Library enabled it to install the new doors, which will improve accessibility for patrons.

Library Director Stephanie Daniels says the support will “allow our library to get to know our residents with disabilities better.” She adds it will “help us improve our services to ensure this population feels welcome and comfortable in our space.”

“Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities” provides community engagement and accessibility resources to small and rural libraries.
