For a bunch of folks who dearly love donning hardhats and tool belts, conducting a virtual celebration of the work they’ve accomplished over the past 25-years will be anti-climactic to say the least, but it will be a celebration for the ages nonetheless.
The team at Harbor Habitat for Humanity is marking 25 years of providing safe, decent, affordable places to call home in Michigan’s Great Southwest, however, due to the uncertain and ongoing health impact of COVID-19, the Harbor Habitat team will be hosting a virtual celebration day filled with a fun walk, awards presentation, family trivia, and prizes for participation.
You are invited to grab a friend and join them this Saturday, October 10th, to celebrate what the power of the hammer and the faith of a mustard seed has been able to accomplish in this great community. Your involvement will assist that team in providing future homeowners the opportunity to take Dave Ramsey’s Financial Peace University, learn basic home repair techniques, and build their home and the homes of others while gaining a plethora of new skills to maintain an affordable home of their own.
Erin Hudson, Executive Director & CEO for Harbor Habitat for Humanity anchored in Benton Harbor, says, “We wanted to take the time to celebrate our 25 years of service in the community and thank all of the people, from our founders, Ken and Jeanine Rogers and Michael Green to companies like Whirlpool and Indiana Michigan Power’s Cook Nuclear Plant and the Benton Harbor Lowe’s Home Improvement Store, who have helped us build 116 homes in Benton Harbor and Benton Charter Township.”
Hudson says, “The COVID-19 pandemic has increased the cost of materials significantly just as we are looking to expand our geographic service area to impact more of our neighboring communities, making it more important than ever that we let the community know that we’re still here, we’re still working and future homeowners still need your support!”
