Harbor Country Chamber Slates Drive-By Tour Guide Pick-up Party

For those who prefer to have a hard copy in hand for ease if flipping from page to page or earmarking with a turned down corner for ease of reference, the Harbor Country Chamber will host a Drive-By Guide Pick Up Party on Friday, June 19th in New Buffalo.

You may recall from a post here last month that the 2020 Harbor Country Guide was released in its digital format during the first week of April, with promises of details regarding when and where you could obtain a hard copy. That time is coming.

The Chamber says the public is invited to grab copies of the 2020 Harbor Country Guide at the Drive-By Guide Pick Up Party on Friday, June 19th at Artisan Farms located at 18300 US Hwy 12 in New Buffalo. Chamber volunteers will be dressed in masks and gloves to safely load guides by the box into distribution member vehicles at the east side drive from 10 am – 3 pm. They also invited folks to watch for the festive decorations as the Chamber celebrates the reopening stages of Harbor Country and the distribution of the publication.

Ever since the 2020 Harbor Country Guide was virtually released on-line the first week of April, Member Services Director, Kimberlee Wendt has been inundated with requests for the guide as real estate, construction, lodging and restaurants began to reopen. She says, “The Harbor Country Chamber of Commerce office remains closed to the public in accordance with the State of Michigan Executive orders. Creative logistics were needed to house the large shipment of guides to await delivery to the Four Winds Casino, Michigan Welcome Centers and other major distribution centers slated to open soon. Thanks to owner and member, Milan Kluko at Artisan Farms, the Chamber was able to house the pallets of guides in his New Buffalo warehouse.”

Artisan Farms is an indoor vertical farm providing sustainable organic produce wholesale to large grocery chains and area restaurants. By harnessing an electric hydroponic system, Artisan Farms supplies a food product free of chemicals and sheltered from outside toxins.

The annual Harbor Country Guide is the area resource for visitors and residents alike seeking places to stay, where to eat, things to do and a section titled “Harbor Country Life” featuring community information to make Harbor Country home. It is the only area publication officially endorsed by Pure Michigan. The guide also serves as the official directory of active Chamber members. The Chamber will stock guides at open businesses and stands by July 1st. In the meantime, the 2020 guide will remain available for virtual viewing online at HarborCountry.org.

The Harbor Country Chamber of Commerce is a 501c(6) corporation, established in 1981 to represent the eight communities of Michiana, Grand Beach, New Buffalo, Union Pier, Lakeside, Harbert, Sawyer and Three Oaks.
