Gunman Holds Up Pit Stop C-Store in Buchanan

While everybody else was getting out of church, heading to lunch or firing up the TV for some Sunday afternoon football, a lone gunman elected to capitalize on lousy weather to hold up The Pit Stop convenience store on S. Oak Street in Buchanan.

Buchanan Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the robber who brandished a black handgun at the clerk and escaped with an undetermined amount of cash shortly after the 11:34am alarm was sounded by store clerks.

The Pit Stop, at 207 S. Oak, was the target of the thief who is identified by police as a black man standing about 5-foot-8 or 5-foot-9 with a thin build and possibly in his 20’s. The man was wearing a red hoodie, a face mask, black pants, black gloves, and black boots at the time of the attack. He was last seen headed northbound on Oak Street, on foot.

Nobody was injured in the holdup, and Buchanan Police, who are continuing their investigation, were assisted on the scene by the Berrien County Sheriff’s Department.

Anybody with information on the robbery is asked to contact the Buchanan City Police Department at 269-695-5120.
