Tell us the story behind the nominated company. What does it do, and what sets them apart from other companies in the region?
Gramenos Law Group specializes in Social Security Disability claims representation. We help disabled individuals fight to obtain monthly financial benefits when they’re unable to engage in full-time work due to severe physical or mental health impairments. The process for obtaining benefits is arduous and can take on average 18 to 24 months before a final determination is made. What sets Gramenos Law Group apart from other disability law firms is our attention to client communication and expertise in communicating directly with Social Security to ensure we are conveying the most important facts to help support winning cases. We pride ourselves on having a human answer our phones and we can hear in their voices how much they appreciate not having to go through an automated system. With clear-cut weekly and monthly check-ins, we ensure that our clients always feel they are “in the know” about where their case is heading.

In your own words, why do you think this company deserves to be declared to be one of the 20 Best Places to Work in Michigan’s Great Southwest?
It’s a great feeling to help people navigate through such an unfair and complex process during such a trying time in their lives. The phone call we make to our client after finding out they have won their disability case is one of the most rewarding aspects of our day-to-day job duties.

What makes workers proud to say they work there, and keeps them a part of the team?
The owner is willing to teach staff new skills on an ongoing basis and encourages them to work toward certification, if desired. There is no pushing of incentives to sell more or meet quotas, which creates a stress-free and supportive environment that focuses on genuine customer service.

Best Places to Work have a reputation for not only working hard but also for playing hard.
We have fun events throughout the year. For example, we enjoyed cooking Italian food at our local Culinary Cottage in The Market. It was delicious! We enjoy regular hangouts as a team, such as weekend barbecues, play dates with our kids, and dinner with our spouses.

What one thing is special about your nominated company that most people in the community have no idea actually happens there, but should be shouted from the rooftops because it’s that cool?
The camaraderie and beautiful environment of our office. We love to decorate for all holidays in our huge windows facing downtown.

Give us three employee perks or benefits that you think make the company you have nominated worthy of a Best Places to Work trophy?

  1. Flexibility and time off
  2. Quarterly team outings
  3. End-of-year celebrations; including our family
